Novak Djokovic will reportedly represent Serbia at the World Group I draw of the Davis Cup which will be played on September 14-15. The competition takes place a week after the US Open concludes. Fans were surprised by the reports as the Serb continues to play competitive tennis following his knee injury.
Djokovic suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee during the French Open. He underwent surgery soon after withdrawing from the quarterfinals of the Paris Slam.
Although his participation at Wimbledon was in doubt, he recovered in time to play at the SW19 and reached the final but faced defeat against Carlos Alcaraz.
Days after Wimbledon concluded, reports surfaced that Djokovic will represent Serbia against Greece at the Davis Cup in Belgrade. The elimination phase will be played on September 14-15 where he could face Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Fans were surprised by the reports as the 24-time Grand Slam winner has a packed upcoming schedule. He will play in the Olympics, which will be followed by the hard court season including the US Open. The Davis Cup World Group I draw will be played a week after the final of the New York Major.

After losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Novak Djokovic said he hoped to perform at his best level at the upcoming Olympics in Paris and the US Open.
During a press conference, he said:
"The Olympic Games and the US Open are the two big goals for the rest of the year for me really. I’m hoping I can be at my best in those tournaments."
The tennis event at the Olympics is slated to begin on July 27, with the main draw of the US Open scheduled to take place on August 26.
