Novak Djokovic has officially reached Brisbane, Australia, to kick off his 2025 season. The Serb will participate in the ATP 250 event in Brisbane as he looks to get his preparations in gear for the first Grand Slam of the year Down Under.

The Serb's attire, as he landed in Brisbane, drew attention. Aside from his relaxed Lacoste tracksuit, Djokovic carried a backpack featuring Pikachu, arguably the mascot of the massively popular Japanese anime series "Pokemon."

Tennis journalist Bastien Fachan shared an interesting theory on Djokovic's choice of attire, drawing a parallel to his 2022 season. Taking to X (the erstwhile Twitter), the commenter wrote that Djokovic won the tune-up event in Adelaide and celebrated by pointing to his head 22 times. He went on to win the Australian Open, his 22nd Grand Slam.

This year, he wrote, Djokovic has shown up to Brisbane with a Pikachu backpack.

"Pikachu is #25 in the Pokédex; Djokovic looks for his 25th Grand Slam," wrote Fachen.

Soon after disembarking, Novak Djokovic headed off to the Pat Rafter Arena for a hitting session. Djokovic will open his campaign against Australian hope, the 23-year-old wild card Rinky Hijikata in the first round. The Serb is also set to participate in doubles, alongside a returning Nick Kyrgios.

The Serb has revealed that he is set to prioritize Grand Slams once again, after failing to win a single Major in 2024. However, he secured a Singles Gold at the Paris Olympics, fulfilling a long-cherished dream.

Novak Djokovic has disclosed that he will be prioritizing winning more Grand Slams and enter more tournaments in the 2025 season.

This year, the Serb will have a familiar face in his coaching box: three-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Andy Murray. In 2025, Djokovic shocked the tennis world when he announced that his former rival Murray would be joining his team. Notably, the Serb had been without a coach since parting ways with Goran Ivanisevic in March of this year.

Djokovic later explained his decision in an interview with Sky Sports. He said, "We were going through different names and I realised the perfect coach for me at this point would be someone that has been through the experiences that I'm going through, possible multiple Grand Slam winner, former No 1."

Murray will bring a wealth of experience to Djokovic's upcoming campaign Down Under, as the Briton is a five-time runner-up at the Australian Open, losing four times to Djokovic. The duo has so far maintained secrecy over their off-season training, but speculation mounted that they have already joined forces after both were seen out and about in Marbella, Spain, on the same day, albeit in separate locations. Notably, Djokovic maintains a €10 million mansion in the Spanish resort town.
