A Novak Djokovic fan at the Australian Open 2025 held up a sign that has taken the internet by storm. The fan was spotted holding up the sign during Djokovic's 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 win against Tomas Machac in the third round of the Melbourne Slam.

The sign, which was a reference to a funny quote from Daniil Medvedev a few days ago, read:

"Young players get the money, girls, and casino but... Novaks got the Slams, gold medal and records"

Medvedev's humorous initial comment came after his first-round win against unseeded Thai player Kasidit Samrej. The 23-year-old has pushed Medvedev to five sets and the Russian, in his own style, praised his opponent by saying:

"But yeah, if he plays like this every match, his life can be good. Money, girls, casino, whatever, if he plays like this in every match. If he doesn’t then he’s not gonna have it. Maybe not in tennis, he’s gonna make it otherwise!"

That comment was such a rage that even Novak Djokovic used it in his post-match interview after his win against Jaime Faria in the second round. While speaking about his young opponent who put up a brilliant fight, Djokovic said:

“Yesterday, Medvedev played five sets, he was two sets to one down. In the wise words of Mr Daniil Medvedev, ‘If the future generation plays this way, they're going to have everything. Money, girls and casino.’ I just love that statement. I had to say it (laughs).”

Novak Djokovic, on the hunt for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title, will face 24th seed Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round on Saturday, January 19. Medvedev, on the other hand, had his campaign in Melbourne cut short as he was stunned by Learner Tien in a tense five-setter in the second round.

If Djokovic wins the Australian Open this year, he will rewrite history. It would be his 25th Grand Slam title, taking him past Margaret Court's record of 24 Majors. Victory in Melbourne would also mark Djokovic's 11th title here, a record that already belongs to him.

The Serbian has found sound backing from Slovakian tennis player Daniela Hantuchová, a former World No. 5. Speaking to Match Point Canada, she said:

“I mean, with Novak nothing is impossible. I would just leave it at that... If there is one person that can reach those crazy goals once again, it's Novak.” [8:11 onwards]

With his family by his for moral support and Andy Murray in his coaching corner, Novak Djokovic is well-poised to make history, yet again, at the Australian Open.
