When Novak Djokovic spoke about the 9/11 victims and the NYC Fire Department
Novak Djokovic was at the peak of his career in 2011, as he won several championships, such as the Australian Open, the French Open, the US Open, and a few more. After the conclusion of the 2011 US Open, the Serb's scores and his performances weren't the only things that garnered all the attention; his heartfelt tribute and his sympathy for the 9/11 victims also did.
In the post-match interview at the US Open, Djokovic paid tribute to the victims of the incident and spoke about the significance of life.
"I want to give my compassion to the people of 9/11. Our hearts are with us. This is more important than a sport. We are playing sport. It’s great we are enjoying but we cannot even realize how lucky we are to live and to be able to do something that we love, so a loud support," Djokovic said.
Novak Djokovic recently wrapped up his 2024 after withdrawing from the ATP Finals 2024 in Turin, where he was expected to defend his title. However, citing injury reasons, the 37-year-old ended his season with his withdrawal. Following this, the player made a big promise for the 2025 season.
