Frances Tiafoe recently hailed Novak Djokovic as the greatest of all time (GOAT) following his gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This was the Serb's second Olympic medal, with his first being a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics which he won after defeating James Blake.

The 2024 Olympics marked Djokovic's fifth appearance at the Games, where he represented Serbia in tennis alongside Dusan Lajovic. He was the top seed and began his campaign by defeating Matthew Ebden and Rafael Nadal in the first and second rounds respectively.

Djokovic then overcame Dominik Koepfer in the third round and registered a win over eighth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. In the final four, the former World No. 1 defeated 11th seed and eventual bronze medalist Lorenzo Musetti before triumphing against second seed Carlos Alcaraz 7–6(3), 7–6(2) in the final to secure the gold medal.

Ahead of his campaign at the 2024 US Open, Frances Tiafoe spoke with the press about Djokovic's win at the Summer Games among other topics. Tiafoe commended the Serb's dedication to winning the gold for his country and called him the greatest of all time.

"Yeah, I mean, I know how bad he wanted that one, for sure. It was an incredible effort, incredible effort. You've got to tip your hat off to him. You know, stats-wise, I think he's been the greatest player of all time for a while now and obviously now he just cemented it," Tiafoe said.

Tiafoe also expressed admiration for Novak Djokovic's ability to continue winning tournaments at his age.

"Crazy. He's like 45 and he's still winning every tournament. It's really good to see what he's doing. But, yeah, I mean, tremendous effort, and I know that meant a lot to him and the country, so congratulations to him," he added.

Speaking after his win over Carlos Alcaraz to win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Novak Djokovic stated that the win was extremely special to him. He also said that it is his pride to represent and play for Serbia.

“Everything [about this is special], but most of all, it is my country. It’s my pride to play for Serbia. I know Carlos and Rafa [Nadal], they love to play for Spain. Andy [Murray] loved to play for Great Britain, Roger [Federer] for Switzerland. Alex Zverev won in Tokyo for Germany. You saw the reactions of all these guys when they win. It’s something special,” he said [via ATPTour.com].

The former World No.1 expressed that he put his 'heart, soul, body, family and everything' to win an Olympic gold medal at the age of 37.

“I put my heart, my soul, my body, my family, my everything on the line to win Olympic gold at age 37. I finally did it,” he added.

Novak Djokovic is in New York to compete in the 2024 US Open, where he will be looking to secure his fifth New York Slam title, and his 25th Grand Slam title overall. He is seeded second in this year's US Open and will begin his campaign at Flushing Meadows by facing qualifier Radu Albot in the first round.
