Novak Djokovic will begin the 2025 season at the Brisbane International, which will be held from December 29, 2024, to January 5, 2025. The ATP 250 tournament will feature a 32-player draw, unlike most other tournaments at that level which have a 28-player draw.
Djokovic will aim to capture his milestone 100th career title in what will be his first tournament alongside new coach Andy Murray. This will be his second appearance in Brisbane, having previously lost in the first round to Ernests Gulbis on his debut in 2009.
Aside from his previous opening-round exit from Brisbane, the Serb has a solid record while competing in warm-up tournaments leading to the Australian Open. He won the title in Adelaide in 2007 and 2023, the only two occasions when he competed there. He never lost a singles match at the ATP Cup and led Serbia to the title in 2020.
Djokovic also made the semifinals in Sydney in 2009, his only appearance there. His strong results before the Australian Open have always helped him perform well at the season's first Major, where he has a record 10 titles. He will aim to script more history Down Under in the coming season.
Novak Djokovic eyeing a historic 25th Major title at the Australian Open 2025
Following his appearance at the Brisbane International, Novak Djokovic will head to Melbourne for the Australian Open, which will be held from January 12-26, 2025. As usual, there's a lot on the line for him. Not only is he gunning for an 11th title at the venue but also his 25th Major title.
The 37-year-old is currently tied with Margaret Court at 24 Major titles, and a triumph in Melbourne would make him the sole record holder. His bid to capture a 25th Grand Slam crown this year was unsuccessful. He was the defending champion at the Australian Open, and went down to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, his first loss at that stage in Melbourne.
He couldn't defend his titles at the French Open and the US Open as well. He withdrew prior to his quarterfinal match in Paris and lost in the third round in New York. He did reach the Wimbledon final and lost to Carlos Alcaraz in a rematch of last year's championship showdown.
The Australian Open is Djokovic's most successful Major. He has amassed an impressive 94-9 record at the venue, with a 91 percent win rate and 10 titles. After back-to-back first-round losses at the start of his career, he won his maiden Major title here in 2008.
Djokovic then won three on the trot from 2011 to 2013, and after a one-year gap, won consecutive titles in 2015 and 2016. A two-year title drought was followed by another hat-trick of titles from 2019 to 2021. He was ineligible to compete in 2022 and made a triumphant return in 2023 when he won his 10th and most recent title.
