In a fun segment, Carlos Alcaraz answered questions from his fellow competitors on the ATP Tour. The segment featured Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Hubert Hurkacz, and more, who questioned the Spaniard on various aspects of his game and his mentality, among other things.
Although Djokovic and Alcaraz may have a huge age gap between them, they have produced countless classics in their encounters so far. The two have played each other twice so far in 2024, with Alcaraz claiming victory at Wimbledon and Djokovic securing a win that contributed to his Gold Medal triumph at the recently concluded Paris Olympics.
In a recent Q&A session conducted by the ATP Tour, Alcaraz was questioned by Djokovic about his favorite sneaker, given the Spaniard's passion for sneakers.
"I see you love your sneakers. Your shoes. So what's your favorite one?" Djokovic inquired.
Alcaraz revealed that it was Nike's Air Jordan 1.
"I'm going to go for… Air Jordan 1. I'm using the low ones quite a lot, but Air Jordan 1," Alcaraz said.
Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz question Carlos Alcaraz on certain aspects of his game
Jannik Sinner asked Carlos Alcaraz how he managed to execute his dropshots so effectively. The Spaniard replied by saying that he had been practicing the shot since a young age and had invested significant time and effort into perfecting it.
"In this beautiful way? He said, oh… I've been practicing the drop shot since I was seven, eight years old. So has been so much hours on it, that's why," he said.
Daniil Medvedev also inquired about the origins of Alcaraz's aggressive playing style. The Spaniard admitted that while he has always had an aggressive approach, he was thinner in his younger years and struggled to generate power
"Well yeah, when i was young, I try to be as aggressive as I am right now. But I couldn't, honestly. I was a super skinny guy," he said.
Meanwhile, Hubert Hurkacz wanted to understand what the 21-year-old thought about while playing tennis. Alcaraz said that he simply aimed to enjoy the game and make good shots to play at his best.
"Well I'm thinking just to enjoy, I'm thinking about making… Good shoes, drop shots, go to the net, playing great tennis, great shots. That's all I'm thinking when I'm playing tennis," the youngster said in response.
Alcaraz has helped Team Spain reach the 2024 Davis Cup Final 8. Team Spain defeated Czechia and France in their group stages.
