Jannik Sinner secured his third career Major title at the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday (January 26), beating second seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets. Following his triumph in Melbourne, the World No. 1 was congratulated by Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner was in red-hot form during his Australian Open defense in the men's singles summit clash as he beat Zverev by a scoreline of 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 in two hours and 45 minutes. The Italian received a flurry of congratulatory messages afterward from top players and pundits.

22-time Major winner Rafael Nadal led the legends who expressed their fascination with the 23-year-old's display in the championship-match outing. The Spaniard reposted a graphic posted by the Australian Open's official Instagram handle.

"Congratulazioni Jan @janniksin Impressionante!" Rafael Nadal wrote in his Instagram stories.

Carlos Alcaraz, who is Jannik Sinner's archrival, also followed Nadal's example.

"Many congrats @janniksin! Bravo!" Carlos Alcaraz wrote in his Instagram stories.

Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, congratulated Sinner in his Instagram stories but also spared a word for Zverev, who suffered his third career Major final defeat on Sunday.

"Sasha, keep believing my friend! You have IT in you. Auguri Jannik," Novak Djokovic wrote.

Aside from former and current tour-level players, analysts like Mark Petchey and James Blake also spoke highly of the Italian in their congratulatory messages on X (formerly Twitter).

"@janniksin is the best player on the planet. 3 time Major Champ," Mark Petchey wrote on X.
"What a performance @janniksin You have proven that you are far and away the best hard court player in the world right now. So impressive and seemingly getting better," James Blake wrote on X.

Jannik Sinner joined a select group of players that have won three Major titles or more with his title victory in Melbourne. Moreover, the Italian also achieved a rather elusive feat, becoming the youngest male or female player to win consecutive Australian Open titles since 1992.

Four-time Major winner, Jim Courier previously held the record for being the youngest pro to enjoy back-to-back triumphs in Melbourne (1992-93) at the age of 22. The World No. 1, meanwhile, is a two-time champion Down Under at 23.

For academic purposes, nine-time Major winner Monica Seles holds the Open era record for being the youngest player to win consecutive Australian Open titles. The American had already nabbed three back-to-back titles in Melbourne by the time she was 19 (1991-93). She added another Australian Open trophy to her cabinet in 1996.
