Having won 24 Grand Slam titles across hard courts, clay courts, and grass, Novak Djokovic opted to play tennis on the Great Wall of China. The Serb participated in a special event organized by Lacoste, where he played tennis with Chinese actor and K-pop star Wang Yibo ahead of the 2024 Shanghai Masters.

The Serb is coming off representing Serbia at the 2024 Davis Cup and is still in search of his first ATP title of the season. The Shanghai Masters is set to begin on October 2 and will run through till October 13. On Sunday, Wang Yibo posted pictures from the Lacoste event, featuring him and the former World No. 1 playing tennis on the Great Wall. In the caption, Wang Yibo expressed his gratitude to Lacoste and Djokovic, eagerly anticipating the next time they would face off.

“I'm truly honored and delighted to have played tennis with an Olympic Champion at the iconic Great Wall! Big thanks to @lacoste , and thank you Nole @djokernole ! I'm already looking forward to our next match, will keep training hard and play big!” - Wang Yibo said

The Serb also shared the post on his Instagram story, captioning the image with two praying hands emojis and a crocodile.

Novak Djokovic has participated in the Shanghai Masters twelve times and has won the title four times, making him the only player to achieve that feat.

He first clinched the title in the 2012 edition after defeating Andy Murray in the final. He then successfully defended his title the following year by outclassing Juan Martín del Potro in the final.

His third victory came at the 2015 edition, where he defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final. The 37-year-old went on to win the Shanghai Masters for a record fourth time in 2018 by beating Borna Ćorić in the final.

This season, the Serb has only participated in eight tournaments. He reached the final of Wimbledon, the semifinals at the Australian Open, the quarterfinals at the French Open (due to an injury), and exited in the third round of the US Open. However, the major highlight of his season was winning the men's singles gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
