Novak Djokovic's rampant display of tennis against Gael Monfils during their second-round match at the 2025 Brisbane International extended his lead against the Frenchman to 20-0. The Serb's 20-0 is the best record is most lopsided record on the men's side.

Djokovic has kicked off his 2025 season with some strong tennis. The top seed comfortably ousted Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-3 to set up a 20th meeting with Monfils. The 37-year-old and the 38-year-old may be in the latter stages of their careers but they still managed to deliver some high-quality tennis. However, it was the 24-time Grand Slam champion who got the better of Monfils yet again.

With his lead now up to a staggering 20-0, the Serb's record is the most lopsided record in ATP history with Rafael Nadal's 18-0 against Richard Gasquet following it. Bjorn Borg's lead against Vitas Gerulaitis, Roger Federer's lead against David Ferrer, and Federer's lead against Mikhail Youzhny all stand in third place with a 17-0 record.

During the post-match press conference, the 24-time Grand Slam champion said that Monfils' game suited his playing style well, putting him in an advantageous position.

"I mean, his game suits me well. To some extent the more you win against someone, the happier you are to play him (smiling)," the Serb said.

Continuing his thoughts, Novak Djokovic gave Gael Monfils his flowers and made his admiration for the French veteran's dynamic athleticism known. He marveled at Monfils for being able to compete at such a high level despite his age.

"I think he deserves a great credit for playing still at such a high level at his age. He's so athletic, super guy. Super nice guy that is loved by millions of people - with a reason. He's a great entertainer, great charisma. The best dancer we have on the tour, that's for sure. He's been around. He's been top-10 player. Played a lot of late stages of Grand Slams. He loves the big stage, the big stadiums," Djokovic said.

The Serb felt that their 20th meeting was a 'good quality' match, which he enjoyed being a part of.

"It was a special match in a way playing a 37-year-old versus 38-year-old on the tour in the first tournament of God knows what season of ours that we have in our career. I mean, I enjoyed it. I think it was a good quality match," the Serb said.

Novak Djokovic will play Reilly Opelka in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International. The Serb has set his sights on the 2025 Australian Open where he will look to win an unprecedented 25th Major.
