Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from the 2024 Cincinnati Open has sparked discussions among the tennis fraternity. The Serb was the defending champion at the Masters 1000 tournament afte4 beating Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling final.
The World No. 2 finally clinched the elusive gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics to become the fifth player in the Open Era to complete the career Golden Slam. He also made it to the final of Wimbledon before it and managed to do all this merely weeks after undergoing a knee surgery.
The Serb previously pulled out of the Canadian Open and has now decided to withdraw from the Cincinnati Masters.
Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to Djokovic's withdrawal from the Masters 1000 event, with one saying how the 24-time Major champion had completed tennis after winning the elusive gold and was still partying after his Paris Olympics triumph.

Another fan felt that the 37-year-old would play another year before calling quits on his tennis career.

After winning the elusive gold, Novak Djokovic took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the people of Serbia for never giving up on him and said that though he may be the one holding the medal, it belonged to every Serbian.
"I could never give up on the dream of winning this gold medal, just as the people of Serbia have never given up on me. Together, we believed in the impossible. While I may be the one holding this medal, I want every Serbian to know that it belongs to all of us."
He called representing Serbia his greatest honor and told the fans that this win was only possible because of them.
"Representing our nation is the greatest honor in the world. This medal, these moments, this life—none of it would have been possible without your unwavering support. This is because of you. This is for you," Djokovic wrote.
Djokovic will be looking to become the first player in the history of tennis to win 25 Grand Slams at the US Open this year.
