Novak Djokovic celebrated Christmas alongside his wife Jelena and children Stefan and Tara. The Serb is currently in Melbourne gearing up for the 2025 Australian Open.
Some countries around the world celebrate Christmas on January 7th as they follow the Julian Calendar, which is 13 days behind the Gregorian Calendar followed by the Roman Catholics. On the other hand, the Julian Calendar is followed by the Orthodox group within Christianity. Countries like Belarus, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Serbia follow it.
Novak Djokovic celebrated Christmas with his family. On Tuesday, he shared a couple of pictures on his Instagram, with one of them being a photo with Jelena while the other one featuring his entire family. He did cover the faces of his children Stefan and Tara with smiley emojis. Both pictures had a beautiful lighted-up Christmas Tree in the background.
"Peace of God, Christ is born! Merry Christmas 🎄🙏🏻," he captioned.
Djokovic has been explicitly stating over the last few years that he wants to focus more on his personal life than his professional life. The Serb has prioritized important tournaments such as the Majors and the Olympics. However, he admitted that he struggled to balance his personal and professional life, and also how he missed them while on tour.
This seemingly shouldn't be an issue for the 37-year-old at the 2025 Australian Open as his entire family has traveled with him to Melbourne.
"My wife said she wanted to take kids on the road" - Novak Djokovic on having his family with him in Melbourne for Australian Open 2025
Novak Djokovic kicked off his 2025 season at the Brisbane International, where it made it to the quarterfinals. During the post-match press conference after his second-round win, the Serb exuded delight in having his family in Melbourne for the Australian Open.
"Yeah, as I mentioned on the court, this is the first time my family comes with me, my children, my wife. I was actually a little bit surprised as well, my wife said she wanted to take the kids on the road and come to Australia. I wasn't expecting that because I know it's a long trip, school and everything. Many challenges that you have to face as a parent."
The 24-time Grand Slam champion tipped his hat to his Jelena for taking care of their children as well as supporting him.
"I'm doing my own thing here. If I have a match day, I'm spending time getting ready for that match and everything. Obviously she has to take care of the kids. She's here supporting me, trying to give me that love and energy, along with kids, that I need to play my best tennis."
He was happy to have his family around as they helped him take his mind off tennis and also kept him motivated at the same time.
Djokovic was sighted with former rival and now coach Andy Murray during a recent practice session ahead of the Serb's run to win an unprecedented 25th Major.
