Nick Kyrgios hailed Jack Socks as 'one of the best to watch' while reminiscing about the American's epic triumph at the 2017 Paris Masters. The Aussie also said how tennis today wasn't the same as in 2017.

The Paris Masters is the final Masters 1000 event of the year. The players are usually fatigued or struggle with injuries during this time of the year and the tournaments often produce huge upsets and unexpected results.

One such year was 2017. Andy Murray, the defending champion, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer withdrew from the tournament due to their respective injuries, leaving Rafael Nadal the only member from the Big 4 to compete in the event. However, a knee injury caused the Spaniard to withdraw from his quarterfinal match.

These withdrawals threw the draw wide open with the likes of Marin Cilic, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, and others looking to capitalize on this opportunity.

However, the two men who exceeded all expectations were 16th seed Jack Sock and qualifier Filip Krajinovic, who met in the summit clash. Sock staged an impressive comeback from a set down to win the sole Masters 1000 title of his career 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. This triumph also helped the American qualify for the year-end Finals, where he made it to the semifinals.

Ahead of this year's Paris Masters, the tournament's Instagram page is listing the players who have won this prestigious tournament. It also posted about Jack Sock's epic win.

"In one of the most unexpected finals at the Rolex Paris Masters, Jack Sock got the better of Filip Krajinovic to lift his first Masters 1000 and qualify for the ATP finals."

Nick Kyrgios, who is friends with Jack Sock, took to Instagram to give a shoutout to the American as he fondly recalled his epic triumph. The two men have played and won a doubles title together at the 2022 Citi DC Open.

"One of the best to watch. Hands down and a brother. Tennis ain’t done like this no more," Kyrgios wrote on his Instagram story.

During an episode of the 'Nothing Major' podcast, which is hosted by Jack Sock, Sam Querrey, John Isner, and Steve Johnson, the Americans discussed how Sock would try to irk his opponents to fire himself up which left his partner in an awkward position.

"No, but I know what John's talking about. You'd maybe just take a short forehand at someone's head and then like get in an altercation and then like…As your partner you'd have to back you up as if you did the right thing," Querrey said.

Sock hilariously pleaded guilty to the accusations.

"Yeah, sometimes you had to make up some motivation. You do something that…"

Nick Kyrgios shared that clip on his Insatgram story and joked about how the accusations couldn't be truer.

"This couldn't be more true 🤣," Kyrgios agreed.

The Aussie also made a comment under the post about how playing with Jack Sock was like playing against the world.

"This is completely true. Everytime I played with sock, it was us against the world hahahaha," Kyrgios commented.

Nick Kyrgios, who has been out of action due to struggles with various injuries, is eyeing a return in 2025, stating that he will try to win a Grand Slam.
