"One step closer to bringing Ironman back" - Serena Williams delighted by Robert Downey Jr.'s shocking new revelation; asks Marvel for potential gig

Serena Williams exuded excitement over Marvel's huge Robert Downey Jr reveal at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con. The American tennis star also hinted at Marvel giving her a role in one of the films.

While discussing the movie Avengers: Doomsday, Anthony Russo, one-half of the Russo brothers, began talking about the actor who will play the role of Dr. Doom from the comics and stated that they needed the greatest actor in the world for it.

“If we’re going to bring Doctor Doom to the screen — he is one of the most complex characters, most entertaining characters in all of fiction. If we’re going to do this … then we are going to need the greatest actor in the world,” Russo said.

This was followed by a man donning Dr. Doom's attire entering the stage and this created anticipation in the arena. The masked man was revealed to be Robert Downey Jr. who previously played Ironman in the Avengers franchise. He announced his arrival to the crowd by stating:

"New mask same task."

Serena Williams took to Instagram to express her delight at this news and shared a few stories. She said that she was overwhelmed and joked how Marvel was one step closer to bringing back Ironman.

"This made me so overwhelmed with joy."

"One step closer to bringing Ironman back lol. I'll take this for now...😜," Williams wrote.

In another story, the American asked Marvel if they could give her the role of Doomette saying that she was willing to keep her mask on so no one needed to know.

"@Marvel can I be doomette? I'll happily keep my mask on, No one needs to know lol hahah. (villain laugh 😈)." Serena Williams said.

Williams' first big role came in the superhit animated series 'The Simpsons' where she played herself in the episode 'Tennis the Menace' which also featured Venus Williams, Andre Agassi, and Pete Sampras. Some of her other voice acting roles came in Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
