Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian revealed how fatherhood has changed his life and career. In a heartfelt conversation with Spanish-American chef and restaurateur Jose Andres on his podcast 'Business Dad', Ohanian discussed the challenges and joys of balancing fatherhood with a successful career.
Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and founder of venture capital firm 776, launched his podcast in May 2024 to explore modern fatherhood with other successful dads dedicated to being present for their families.
Married to Serena Williams since 2017, Ohanian welcomed their first daughter, Olympia, that same year. The family grew in August 2023 with the birth of their second daughter, Adira.
On July 15, Ohanian shared a clip from his podcast on Instagram, reflecting on how his priorities shifted after becoming a father. Before Olympia's birth, his main focus was career advancement. However, fatherhood made him realize that life is about more than just professional achievements.
"One of the things that really changed my life was becoming a father. One of the reasons for that was I realized that after spending so much of my life really focused on myself and building my career, I now had this little human who I just cared so much more about than anything else," Ohanian said.
"One of the reasons why I continue to work, specifically like the things I work on, is because I know that they're watching and I want to be that role model for my children. And it's given like a purpose to my work," he added.
"All the work I do, it’s for my family, not myself. I’ve got two little kiddos at home at home watching! Here’s my chat with @chefjoseandres on the latest #BusinessDad," the clip was captioned.

"Having children was one of the best things I've ever done, not just personally, but also professionally. Business Dads will understand," Ohanian wrote.
The 41-year-old also mentioned that he left his venture capital firm, Initialized Capital, to launch his fund called Seven Seven Six, which he called his “life's best work”.
