Notable British broadcaster Piers Morgan recently discussed a blockbuster imaginary clash between John McEnroe and Nick Kyrgios during a chat with the Aussie. Morgan felt that the two fiery personalities facing each other would bring about fireworks.

McEnroe is one of the greatest tennis players of all time having won seven Grand Slams. However, the American was known for his frequent outbursts on the court. Kyrgios has also exuded similar behavior in recent times and found himself at the center of controversies due to his outbursts. The Aussie invited Morgan in the latest episode of his podcast, Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios.

The Brit was talking about players other than Kyrgios, who have exuded similar outbursts during their career, and came up with John McEnore, whose outburst at the 1981 Wimbledon led to the iconic line 'You cannot be serious'.

"McEnroe was the one. His blowups are Wimbledon became iconic. And you've been the only one that had really come close," Morgan said (at 17:08).

Noting the similarities between the two, Morgan said that he would've loved to see a match between the two and joked that he would prefer some 'dodgy' calls.

"So I put you both out there, but I would love to see you both play each other with very dodgy line calls before the electronic line calls, back in the 70s. It would be brilliant watching you both throwing your toys out of the strollers."

Though Nick Kyrgios and Piers Morgan had their differences in the past, they 'buried the hatchet' to end their feud earlier this year.

Continuing his thoughts on the dream John McEnroe vs Nick Kyrgios matchup, Piers Morgan added that the mix of the two men's talents and the 'inflammable' personalities would result in something special.

"To watch two guys like that, who are brilliant players with a touch of genius but also slightly mad and with deeply inflammable personalities on a court would’ve been brilliant to watch."

However, he hilariously joked about the problem the 29-year-old faced against McEnroe.

"Your problem really over McEnroe is that you are Australian. So that’s a double fault line for me. You're a bad boy, and you're an Aussie."

In December last year, Kyrgios had given an interview to Morgan for the Brit's YouTube channel Piers Morgan Uncensored where Kyrgios joked about being the most fined player on the tour.

The Aussie has been out of action for over a year due to a series of injuries but is set to make his return at the 2025 Brisbane International.
