Paula Badosa’s younger sister Jana congratulated the Spaniard’s boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas and his brother Petros on their glory in Antwerp.
Stefanos contested in both the singles and men’s doubles categories at the 2023 European Open held in Antwerp, Belgium. While the Greek fell short in singles, bowing out against Arthur Fils in the semifinals, he hit the mark in doubles alongside his 23-year-old brother Petros.
The Tsitsipas brothers got the better of Uruguay’s Ariel Behar and Czech Republic’s Adam Pavlasek 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-8 in the final on Sunday, October 22. With the victory, they lifted their first trophy as a pair.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was thrilled that his partnership with Petros bore fruit.
“This is what we dreamed about growing up,” the two-time Grand Slam runner-up wrote on his Instagram story.
Petros, too, celebrated their win by posting a picture of him hugging his older sibling.
“There’s bravery in being soft,” he wrote.
The post caught the attention of Stefanos Tsitsipas’ girlfriend Paula Badosa, who is on an injury break and was with the duo in Antwerp.
“Love you,” she expressed her delight, adding oodles of heart emojis.
Her 15-year-old sister, Jana, similarly wished the two with a congratulatory message.
“Congratss,” she wrote.
Badosa and her younger sister Jana share a close bond. She is occasionally spotted accompanying the former World No. 2 and the Tsitsipas brothers on tour.
In a recent episode of "My Journey: Paula Badosa," the Spaniard revealed that she cares for Jana like a ‘second mom.’
"We have a 10-year difference so I always felt that, of course, I’m her older sister but as I say, at the same time, I always felt like I had to like, be her second mom," Paula Badosa said.
"I protect her so much, especially the role I’m playing right now with her right now it’s financially, I’m helping her,” she added.
Just like her sister, Jana is also a budding tennis player and trains at the Emilio Sanchez Academy in Naples, Florida.
"I'm going through the best time of my life" – Stefanos Tsitsipas on his relationship with Paula Badosa
During his stint in Antwerp, Stefanos Tsitsipas highlighted the positive impact Paula Badosa has had on his life. The Greek revealed that, while tennis previously occupied the majority of his schedule, he has now been prioritizing the time spent with his family.
"My meeting with Paula gave me another vision of life in general. Before, it was always tennis, tennis, tennis, that was all that mattered," he said.
"To have Paula by my side now is great. I’m going through the best time of my life. I have the right people around me, I have no doubts with that."
The former World No. 3, who has his father Apostolos as his main coach, and often travels with his family, said that he highly values his bond with his loved ones. He believes that this in turn brings out the best in him on court.
"Maybe for some, these connections aren’t so important, but for me they are crucial. These are elements of my life that also require time," he remarked.
"Everything is clear in my mind and I think it brings freshness to my tennis and to the way I want to succeed in the rest of my career."
Stefanos Tsitsipas will next compete in the ATP 500 Vienna Open. He has been drawn against fellow former World No. 3 Dominic Thiem in his opener.
