Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa reacted to ATP World No.10 Grigor Dimitrov's heartfelt Instagram post on Friday. This comes just a day after the Bulgarian's name was included in the Laver Cup.
A few hours after this announcement, Dimitrov took to his Instagram handle to share a photo of himself with the caption:
"Today and every day, I’m grateful for the little things that make life big. I’m thankful for the loved ones who support me, and the challenges that grow me. I’m grateful for the opportunities to learn, to laugh, and to love. For the moments of joy and the memories that last a lifetime."
Badosa was quick to notice the post and reacted gracefully to the post. The Spaniard didn't put any writeups and just commented with a heart emoji under the post.
Dimitrov will next feature at the 2024 Laver Cup scheduled to begin September 20. The Bulgarian's inclusion into the squad came as a result of the 22-time Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal's decision to withdraw from the tournament due to physical issues.
Grigor Dimitrov had to withdraw from US Open quarterfinals due to a leg injury
Grigor Dimitrov faced Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals of the US Open on September 3 and was in good momentum after coming up at the back of a thrilling contest against Andrey Rublev in the Round of 16. However, the Bulgarian couldn't capitalize against Tiafoe in the quarters and had to withdraw from the match in the fourth set due to a leg injury.
In the four sets he played during the match, Dimitrov looked quite tired after battling for more than three hours against Rublev. Besides, he also committed 11 double faults across the match.
Following this defeat, the Bulgarian opened up about the challenges he faced before and during the match. He said (via ATP Tour):
"Clearly my rehab process is a little bit slower than before. I mean, I felt a couple of things prior to the match. It's the game. It's just the game, and I need to keep my head up."
Grigor Dimitrov was looking to make his second semifinals of the Flushing Meadows (after 2019) but the injury hampered his plans.
