Former tennis player Angelique Kerber snuggled with her daughter reading a book inside a heated blanket, calling it the 'best thing'. Kerber drew a line to her professional tennis career after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In 2022, Kerber had disappointing finishes at the Billie Jean Cup, Indian Wells, the Australian, and the Madrid Open. However, she unfurled her prowess at the Internationaux de Strasbourg, winning her 14th career title. Months later, she withdrew from the US Open, announcing her pregnancy, and gave birth to her first child Liana on February 25, 2023.
She then took to her Instagram handle to post an adorable picture, captioning:
"Welcome to our family, Liana 25.02.2023. Having you with us is the most beautiful & overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined."
Cut to November 25, 2024, Kerber shared a picture with her one-year-nine-month-old daughter, scrolling through a picture book while snuggling inside a specialized heated blanket.
"Best thing. It's even big enough to keep us both warm," the 36-year-old captioned.
In another story, she appreciated the brand and provided the link to the product, listing the benefits of the heated blanket during cold days.
"My favorite choice for cold days - soft, perfectly cozy and washable.. which is much needed with kids."
Popular as one of the most famous German players, Kerber has an Olympic silver in her repertoire which she won at the 2016 Games. She stood atop as World no. 1 for 34 weeks and achieved three major titles, the 2018 Wimbledon, 2016 Australian Open, and US Open.
Angelique Kerber on prioritizing quality time with friends and family after retirement
After retiring from competitive tennis, Angelique Kerber attended the Laver Cup in Berlin as a spectator. At the event, she shared how spending quality time with her friends and family became her main focus after retirement:
"‘I'm trying to enjoy time with my family and friends right now. Then we'll see what happens."
Kerber earned her first win as the mother of Liana at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open. In the post-match conference, she excitedly talked about her life with her little one.
"I really enjoy to show her the world. Of course, she's really small still, and in a few more days, I think she will walk. It's so close. Every day, you have something you're proud of, and it's really emotional," Angelique Kerber said.
Little Liana also accompanied her mother to her training session ahead of the 2024 United Cup quarterfinals.
