Despite retiring in 2022, Serena Williams' love for the sport has not waned. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was recently captured catching up with her long-time pal Caroline Wozniacki at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Williams attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games with her husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter, Olympia, on Friday. Beyond the opening ceremony, Williams has also visited the Olympic Village and has been seen interacting with several athletes, one of them being her close friend Caroline Wozniacki.
On Sunday, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the International Tennis Federation posted a picture featuring the American, her husband Alexis Ohanian, and Wozniacki. Williams wore a white tracksuit, while Wozniacki wore a burgundy Denmark tracksuit.
Williams and Wozniacki share a long-standing friendship. In 2014, Williams was present at the finish line to congratulate Wozniacki and put a medal around her neck when the Dane participated in the New York City Marathon. Williams was also part of Wozniacki’s bridal train when she married NBA star David Lee in 2019 at Castiglion del Bosco in Italy.
While Williams was active on the WTA Tour, they faced off 11 times, with the American claiming 10 victories over Wozniacki. The Dane's only victory over Williams came in the 2012 Miami Open quarterfinals.

Serena Williams competed in four Olympic Games before her retirement in 2022. Meanwhile, Caroline Wozniacki, currently ranked world No. 73, is representing Denmark in Paris 2024, which is her fourth Olympics.
Here is a sneak peek at how the two tennis stars have fared at the Olympic Games over the course of their careers:
Serena Williams made her Olympic debut at the Sydney 2000 Games, where she and her sister Venus secured the gold medal in doubles. The duo repeated their success at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, securing their second gold medal together.
In her third Olympic appearance at the London 2012 Olympics, she won gold in the singles category and secured her third gold in doubles with her sister Venus. Her final appearance was at the Rio 2016 Olympics, where she was eliminated in the third round.
Wozniacki, on the other hand, has represented Denmark at three Olympic Games. She debuted at Beijing 2008, reached the quarterfinals at London 2012, marking her best Olympic result, and was eliminated in the first round at Rio 2016.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Wozniacki is already through to the second round, having defeated Egypt's Mayar Sherif 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. She is all set to face World No. 9 Danielle Collins in the second round.
