Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian expressed skepticism about several umpire calls during the NFC Championship Game between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, January 26. A dedicated Commanders fan, Ohanian often shares his opinions on the team through social media.

The Eagles secured a dominant 55-23 victory over the Commanders to advance to the Super Bowl. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley were instrumental in Philadelphia's performance, with each scoring three rushing touchdowns. Barkley rushed for 118 yards on just 15 carries, while Hurts contributed by completing 20 of 28 passes for 246 yards and a touchdown.

A series of events and calls compounded the Commanders' challenges. A.J. Brown's 31-yard reception, coupled with Marshon Lattimore's pass interference penalty, set up another quick Eagles score. Additionally, referee Shawn Hochuli issued a warning to the Commanders, threatening to award a touchdown following repeated penalties during the Eagles' "tush push" plays.

The warning made the Commanders stop their infractions, allowing Jalen Hurts to score a touchdown.

Serena Williams' husband later expressed disappointment over some of the decisions in the match, referring to them as "suspect calls." However, the Reddit co-founder called that a part of the game and shared an inspiring message.

"Yes there were missed/suspect calls galore and they pissed me off, too, but that’s part of the game and great teams overcome them. We’ll get there," he wrote on X.

The Eagles will play either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 in New Orleans.

As previously noted, Saquon Barkley played a major role for the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. Alexis Ohanian later emphasized the importance of neutralizing Barkley’s impact, writing:

"We need an answer for Saquon."

Serena Williams' husband later reflected on the challenges faced by the Commanders during the game, including turnovers and difficulties in containing Barkley.

"We couldn’t find an answer. 3 turnovers also makes it very hard. Still, this season exceeded all my expectations and I’m so proud of this team. Congrats, Eagles, y’all won this outright," Ohanian wrote.

Ohanian, a frequent supporter of the Washington Commanders, recently celebrated their impressive 45-31 victory over the Detroit Lions in the 2024 NFL Playoffs. Following the game, quarterback Jayden Daniels caused a stir with a subtle jibe at Terrion Arnold
