It took four hours and 10 minutes for Carlos Alcaraz to emerge victorious against Jannik Sinner to reach his maiden French Open final. However, the World No. 3's 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over the soon-to-be World No. 1 did not impress several fans, who questioned the level of tennis it produced.

Alcaraz was no match for Sinner in the first set, and the reverse was true in the second. However, the Spaniard seemed in pole position to carve out an advantage for himself early in the third set as the Italian appeared to be struggling with hand cramps. A medical timeout ensued, and it seemed to rejuvenate Sinner, who made the most of Alcaraz's sloppy play to clinch the set.

Across the last two sets, though, things were neck-and-neck between the pair, but Alcaraz almost always had the answers when it mattered the most. With the win, the two-time Grand Slam winner booked his spot in his third Major final. However, a section of tennis fans on X (formerly Twitter) didn't appreciate Alcaraz and Sinner's five-set Roland-Garros semifinal.

One set of fans opined that neither the Spaniard nor the Italian would have been a match for the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Nadal has won the French Open a record 14 times, while Djokovic has reigned supreme on three occasions.

"Man Rafa would have SMOKED these b***hes," one fan wrote.
"I'm watching the Alcaraz-Sinner tennis match; it's far from Rafole quality. In the past twenty years, Rafa and Nole have spoiled us," another fan commented.
"I think Rafa of the first round was winning this today. Same for Novak with a torn meniscus," another fan chimed in.
"Djokovic could've beaten these on his crutches!" opined yet another fan.

Another set of fans expressed their disappointment at the general level of play that Alcaraz and Sinner produced.

"'And they thought it was gonna be good quality,'" one fan wrote sarcastically, whose post featured a GIF of Alcaraz and Sinner sitting together and laughing.
"I better not see ONE headline involving the word "epic" if this match goes five setsbut I already know we will," commented another fan.
"I'm starting to believe that neither of these guys are capable of beating Zverev in the final.Hell, with this level they aren't beating Ruud either," yet another fan wrote.

Alcaraz's win over Sinner marks another milestone for the Spaniard, who is still only 21 years old. The reigning Wimbledon champion is now the youngest in men's tennis history to have reached the final of Grand Slams across all three surfaces in the sport. Previously, Andre Agassi, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, and Jim Courier held the record. However, they all did it when they were 22 years old.

The Spaniard's first Major final came at the 2022 US Open, where he defeated Casper Ruud to win his maiden Grand Slam title. His next Grand Slam final appearance came at the Wimbledon Championships last year. Alcaraz clinched the title after an epic five-setter against Djokovic.

In the final of the 2024 French Open, the Spaniard will face either World No. 4 Alexander Zverev or two-time tournament finalist Casper Ruud on June 9.
