“Rafael Nadal ran into middle of the bus driveway” - Tom Daley recounts hilarious incidents with Spaniard & bumping into Andy Murray at Paris Olympics

Tom Daley recently revealed a hilarious incident involving Rafael Nadal at the Paris Olympics 2024. The diver also spoke about bumping into Andy Murray in the physio's room.

Daley is an accomplished diver, who has already clinched a silver medal in 10 meters synchronized platform diving at the ongoing Paris Olympics. The Brit has won a gold and three bronze medals at previous editions of the event.

He talked to GQ about his experience at the Olympic Village. The legendary diver recounted a hilarious incident with Rafael Nadal, where the Spaniard was late while boarding the bus and started running in the middle of the bus driveway to make it in time.

"You know the crazy thing about the Olympic village is you bump into people all the time, like the other day we were talking towards the bus… [Rafael] Nadal was really late for the bus and he just ran right into the middle of the bus driveway. You know, he needed to make that bus, I don’t know if he had a match or what," Tom Daley told GQ.

Daley also talked about bumping into Andy Murray, adding that being senior players, they spend a lot of time in the physio room. He also stated that players from different sports and countries encounter each other a lot.

"Andy Murray is quite often in the physio room, if you’d believe it. As some of the elders of the team, me and him spend a lot of time in the physio room. But yeah, you bump into people all the time from all different sports, all different countries, and everyone’s there for a common goal," Daley said.

Rafael Nadal on living in the Olympic Village - "It’s a little bit less comfortable"

Rafael Nadal talked about staying at the Olympic Village and immersing himself in the complete Olympics experience. The Spaniard said that it was less comfortable as he was used to staying in a hotel week in and week out.

"Of course for us it’s a little bit [less] comfortable and we are used to staying in hotels or houses with the things probably more comfortable than how the things are in the village," he said at a press conference.

The Spaniard added that if he stayed in a hotel, the Olympics would become just another event.

"But, I mean, when you are in the Olympics I think playing in an Olympic Games without being in the village is like playing another event. So it’s only once every four years and for me, personally, don’t make sense to stay in a hotel. We stay in a hotel every single week," he added.
