Rafael Nadal's sister Maribel reacts to Spaniard joining Carlos Alcaraz in Spain's squad for Davis Cup Finals 2024 knockout stages

Rafael Nadal's sister, Maribel recently shared her excitement over the news of the 38-year-old joining Carlos Alcaraz in Spain's squad for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals knockout stages. Spain will be facing the Netherlands in the quarterfinals which is set to take place in Malaga from November 19 to 21, 2024.

Earlier this month, the nation secured its spot in the knockout stages powered by Alcaraz's impressive performances against France and Czech Republic in Valencia. The final eight countries competing include Spain, Netherlands, Italy, the United States, Canada, Australia, Argentina, and Germany.

The Spanish team for the quarterfinals against the Netherlands will consist of Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Marcel Granollers, with David Ferrer serving as the captain.

The official social media account of Tennis Spain recently announced the lineup for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals knockout stages.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion's sister, Maribel then re-shared Tennis Spain's post on her social media, expressing her support with a Spanish flag emoji and a heart eye emoji.

The winner of the quarterfinal match between the Netherlands and Spain will advance to face either Germany or Canada in the semifinals scheduled to take place from November 22 to 23, 2024.

Recently while speaking to Marca, Carlos Alcaraz shared that he hopes to team up with Rafael Nadal at the 2024 Davis Cup Finals knockout stages. He also stated that playing with the 22-time Grand Slam champion is something he is particularly excited for.

"I heard David [Ferrer] say that if Rafa was there, he would go to the death with him. I hope I'm also physically fit to be able to go to Malaga. It's something that I'm particularly excited about," Carlos Alcaraz said.

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal played doubles together for the first time at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They had defeated the Argentine pair of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 7-6(4), 6-4 in the first round and then overcame the Dutch pair of Tallon Griekspoor an Wesley Koolhof 6-4, 6-7(2), [10-2] in the second round.

However, the Spaniards' Olympic campaign came to an end in the quarterfinals when they were defeated by the eventual silver medalists, the American duo of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram 2-6, 4-6.
