As India celebrates the auspicious event of Raksha Bandhan on Monday (August 19), Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza received a heartwarming wish from her sister Anam Mirza.
Anam took to her Instagram profile to share a photograph along with Sania, and wrote in the caption:
“We’re nearly 8 years apart, us two sisters, Raksha-ed our way through life.”
In the adorable post, Anam shared a series of photographs along with her elder sibling, including images from their childhood. She also shared some clicks from a photoshoot where the Mirza sisters donned elegant sarees as well as boxing gloves.
This year, August 19 is being celebrated as Raksha Bandhan across India and among the Indian diaspora elsewhere.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival which is traditionally celebrated between a brother and a sister, where the latter ties a ‘rakhi’ to the former’s wrists in exchange for gifts, as well as a vow of protection. However, in recent times, all kinds of siblings, including sisters, have celebrated Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of love and affection.
