Sabine Lisicki and her fiancé recently welcomed their first child, and the German has received congratulations from fellow WTA players, including Magdalena Fręch, Shelby Rogers, Ashlyn Krueger, and others. She has not played a match since being knocked out in the first round of the ITF United Arab Emirates 01A in December 2023 by Nigina Abduraimova. A few months later, in March, she announced that she was expecting a baby with her fiancé.

On Sunday, Lisicki shared a tender moment on her Instagram feed, showing her and her fiancé gently cradling their baby’s head in their hands. In the caption, she expressed their joy and introduced their baby girl as "Bella."

“Our hearts are filled with love and happiness, as we are humbled to welcome Bella to our world," Lisicki said.

After the post was made, four-time Grand Slam doubles champion Timea Babos congratulated her in the comments section, adding two heart emojis.

Shelby Rogers, who retired after a 14-year career at the recently concluded 2024 US Open, also congratulated Lisicki.

“Beautiful miracle! Congratulations!” Rogers commented.

Magdalena Fręch commented 'Congratulations' along with three heart-eyed emojis, Eva Lys added a heart emoji, and Ashlyn Krueger also commented 'Congratulations' with three heart emojis.

Sabine Lisicki's announcement of her pregnancy also included news of her planned comeback after giving birth. In a March 2024 Instagram post, she shared a photo of herself holding hands with her fiancé on a beach, along with another image of a wooden board that read 'Baby is coming,' adorned with baby shoes and flowers. In the caption, she said:

“Life is full of unexpected surprises. My fiancé and I are looking forward to this exciting journey. And…I guess I will have to make one more comeback.”

This isn't the first time Sabine Lisicki has spent significant time away from the court. In 2020, she tore her ACL at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz Open, which contributed to her missing a total of 18 months between 2020 and 2022.

The German player has also struggled with form in recent years; in November 2023, her victory at the ITF W60 event in Calgary, Canada, was her first title in nine years.

The major highlight of her career came during the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, where she reached the final. Along the way, she defeated Tamira Paszek, Elena Vesnina, Samantha Stosur, and Serena Williams in the earlier rounds. She also won against Kaia Kanepi and Agnieszka Radwańska in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively, before being outclassed by Marion Bartoli in the final 6-1, 6-4.
