Serena Williams' $150M-worth husband Alexis Ohanian beams with pride after daughter Olympia gets surprise Armenia-origin gift

Alexis Ohanian recently took to social media to show off some Japanese candy given to him by a fellow Armenian. Serena Williams' internet guru husband was eating at a Japanese restaurant in France when he was recognized by one of his countrymen and gifted the confectionary to pass on to his daughter, Olympia.

Ohanian has always been at pains to champion his home nation and is a proud Armenian. Despite being born in Brooklyn, New York, he's acutely aware of his heritage and the sacrifices made by his parents and grandparents. His family originated in Kharput (present-day Turkey) and his grandfather's parents were orphaned by the Armenian Genocide in the 1920s.

Ohanian's mother, Manzar, marched through the Syrian desert to escape the oppression, losing her parents and siblings along the way, before ending up in Aleppo. In his X post, Ohanian ended with "I love us".

"Fellow Armenian recognized me at a Japanese restaurant in France and gifted me some candy to bring home to Olympia. I love us."

Ohanian and Serena Williams's daughter Olympia is making her own waves at the tender age of seven. She's part of the couple's ownership group of the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), making her the youngest owner of a sports team. Ohanian told Reuters that Olympia was a key motivator in his and Serena's decision to get involved with Tiger Woods and Rory McIroy's fledgling venture:

“I knew I wanted to do this team and I knew I wanted to bring Serena in so I was like, babe come on board. When I told her I was going to start another team she was like, seriously. Then I told her what it was and she said that sounds amazing."

The LAGC is not the only sporting venture the couple has in their portfolio. Ohanian, the founder of Reddit and once touted by Forbes as the "Mayor of the Internet", is also the principal owner of Angel City FC, while Serena holds a minority stake in the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

Angel City FC came into being in 2022 and has an ownership group that includes 13 former players from the US women's national team, Oscar-winning actor Natalie Portman, and many other prominent entertainers, media personalities and sportspeople.

As one of Armenia's most successful sons, Ohanian is representing his country throughout the world. Now a recognizable figure worldwide in sports and business circles, his French encounter has delighted the man worth an estimated $150 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth).
