Serena Williams' and Andre Agassi's former coaches, Brad Gilbert and Rennae Stubbs have expressed their sorrow over the tragic school shooting in Madison, Wisconsin. The incident claimed the lives of a student and a teacher while leaving six others injured, shaking the nation to its core.

On Monday, December 16, 2024, a horrifying event unfolded at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. A 15-year-old student, identified as Natalie Rupnow, who also went by Samantha, opened fire within the school premises. The attack resulted in the deaths of a teacher and a fellow student while injuring six others.

According to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes, a second-grade teacher called 911 at 10:57 a.m. local time to report an active shooter. The chaos ended when Rupnow succumbed to what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound en route to the hospital.

Andre Agassi and Coco Gauff's ex-coach, Brad Gilbert, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his grief and frustration. In a powerful statement, Gilbert called for stricter gun laws and questioned how a teenager could access a firearm.

"So sad that a 15-year-old gets a gun, there has to be massively stricter laws that guns have to be locked when children are living in the house. Unfortunately, we have zero ability to change gun laws," Brad Gilbert wrote.

Serena Williams' ex-coach, Rennae Stubbs, also voiced her outrage on social media. Reacting to reports that the shooter’s father may have given her a handgun for her 14th birthday, Stubbs condemned the ease of access to firearms for minors.

"What a freaking embarrassment this country is," she posted, pointing to the failure of existing laws that only penalize the reckless storage of firearms within reach of children under 14.

Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs expressed outrage over the shocking remarks made by the Colorado Springs shooter’s father.

The father, interviewed after the November 2022 attack that killed five at a gay nightclub, admitted to encouraging violence and was more upset about the shooter’s presence in a gay club than the crime itself.

"I praised him for violent behavior really early. I told him it works. You’ll get immediate results," he said.
"They started telling me about the incident, a shooting... And then I go on to find out it’s a gay bar. I got scared, ‘Sh*t, is he gay?’ And he’s not gay, so I said, phew… I am a conservative Republican," he added.

Reacting to the statement, Stubbs called for parents to be held accountable and face charges in such cases.

"Wow!!! Apple didn’t fall far! As i said. This is why women need choices and why parents might need to also be charged when their kids go and shoot others!" Serena Williams' former coach Rennae Stubbs remarked.

Andre Agassi's ex-coach Brad Gilbert spoke out against gun violence in the United States following a tragic school shooting in Tennessee. In March 2023, a shooter, identified as a former student, killed six people, including three children, at a Nashville school. Posting on X, Gilbert urged for an immediate ban on assault weapons and criticized the country’s gun laws, calling them "insanity."
