WTA legend Serena Williams' ex-coach, Rennae Stubbs, recently shared her thoughts about the AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Despite the defeat, the renowned tennis mentor sided with the Bills and blamed the officials for the result.
The Bills attempted a 4th-and-1 quarterback sneak with Josh Allen while leading 22-21 in the fourth quarter. Although the sideline angles showed that Allen may have reached the first down, officials ruled him short. After review, the call stood due to a lack of clear evidence, resulting in a turnover on downs.
Former WTA pro Stubbs appeared disappointed with the decision made by the officials. According to her, the referee helped the Chiefs win the game against the Bills. She expressed her frustration over the incident on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
"That call cost the Bills! The refs help KC win this game. I don’t care what anyone says," the 53-year-old wrote.
Stubbs has been attached to football for a while now. She not only talks about her love for the sport in the "Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast," but also regularly shares her views on X. However, despite being a follower of the sport, there have been moments when she hasn't backed down from criticizing the NFL.
When Rennae Stubbs lashed out at the NFL over Morgan Riddle's scary experience at the Super Bowl
The tennis community was shocked when Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle shared her experience at the 2024 Super Bowl. The renowned influencer wrote on Instagram:
"In the last three days I've been grabbed, groped, harassed, cat called incessantly - basically every few minutes when we were out in public. And it was really bad at the game. Spent the third quarter in the bathroom of the stadium because I had a panic attack. I have male sports fans who follow me and luckily I’ve never experienced something like this with tennis."
In response, Rennae Stubbs didn't hold back her frustration and posted a strong message for the NFL on X.
"@NFL do better. Men do better. Fathers do better," she wrote.
Several fans appreciated Stubbs' stand backing Riddle.
