Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, recalled humorously referring to their family as a "start-up" and his wife as the "co-founder". Ohanian is an entrepreneur, who co-founded the prominent social media platform, Reddit, in 2005.
The 41-year-old met Williams in 2015, and they tied the knot two years later in New Orleans. They have two daughters: Olympia, born in September 2017, and Adira River, born in August 2023.
In addition to his business ventures, Alexis Ohanian hosts a podcast called "Business Dad," where he talks about balancing work and parenthood, often inviting eminent personalities who are also parents.
The 41-year-old recently invited Kanyi Maqubela, a technology venture capitalist and managing partner at Kindred Ventures, on his podcast. During their discussion, Ohanian shared how Serena Williams didn't find it "romantic" when he referred to her as their family's co-founder, a remark that left Maqubela chuckling.
"I once referred to our family as a start-up and my wife as my co founder and she did not find it nearly as romantic as I did. So, I take that feedback. But that was bad that could say a lot more about me, frankly," Ohanian said.
Ohanian shared a glimpse of the discussion on Instagram and captioned it,
"I once compared my family to a startup, with my wife as the Co-Founder... But as I was telling @kmaq on #BusinessDad... she didn’t find it as romantic as I did 😂"
Alexis Ohanian admitted that he didn't watch tennis before dating Serena Williams
In a conversation on his podcast with former basketball player Shane Battier, Alexis Ohanian revealed that he had never watched tennis before dating his wife, Serena Williams. However, his outlook on the sport changed once he started watching it.
“I didn't watch tennis until I started dating my wife. It was very much a football, NFL household. The NFL was it, and I thought that was the only sport that mattered. And then when I came to watch tennis, of the big sports, it is the most pure. What people wanna see is two people being the best, and a winner and a loser, and a feeling as objective as humanly possible,” Ohanian said.
Ohanian later shared the snippets of the discussion on X (formerly Twitter).
The tech entrepreneur often cheered for the 23-time Grand Slam champion from the stands, with their daughter Olympia. The couple has frequently expressed their love for each other publicly.
