Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian approved the LeBron James comparison for Sifan Hassan after the athlete posed in a similar photo to the $800 million-worth NBA legend (via Celebrity Net Worth).
Hassan had a remarkable season this year, having won three medals at the Paris Olympics. She clinched gold in the marathon event, just days after bagging bronze in the 10,000m and 5,000m. For her achievements, Hassan was honored with the Athlete of the Year and Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year awards at the World Athletics Gala 2024 in Monte Carlo on December 1.
On Saturday, December 14, Hassan shared a few pictures of her posing with the two trophies on social media. Sports apparel company Athlos compared the pictures with James' twin trophies he won in 2016, including the NBA Championship and NBA Finals MVP. They quoted that both exhibited the "same energy." Ohanian reposted the same to express his approval.
Hassan's exceptional feat at this year's Olympics makes her the only athlete in the event's history to win medals across a middle-distance race and two long distance races in a single Olympic Games.
She showed great determination throughout her journey from refugee to world-class athlete. She was recently recognized with the Champion for Peace of the Year award by Peace and Sport for her significant impact in promoting peace and social bonding through sports.
LeBron James had a similarly strong year in 2016 in terms of individual success. The American was unanimously voted (11-0) as the NBA Finals MVP. He topped the statistics leaderboard at the end of the seven game series in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
