Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian in awe of $6.1 billion-worth NFL team's star over unique ball collection

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has expressed his awe at Derek Stingley Jr.'s collection of balls intercepted in his NFL career and the in-play photos. Ohanian was impressed by the fact that Stingley Jr., an active athlete who plies his trade for the $6.1 billion-worth Houston Texans (as per Forbes), has such a vast collection.

On Friday, January 17, the official X page of On Mantel, an online community for collectors co-created by Ohanian himself, shared a picture featuring Derek Stingley Jr.'s unique collection. The post was captioned:

"Derek Stingley Jr. kept every ball he’s ever intercepted, along with a photo of the play"

Alexis Ohanian, the Reddit co-founder who married former World No. 1 and 23-time singles Major champion Serena Williams in 2017, promoted the post, writing:

"Never seen a player collect like this. Very cool."

Ohanian, an avid collector, co-created On Mantel with film producer Brent Montgomery, and excitedly teased it in December last year, touting it as the "next big thing". Not too long before this, the Reddit co-founder had flaunted his incredible Serena Williams card collection.

In May 2024, Alexis Ohanian collaborated with Alt, a card trading company, and showcased his Serena Williams card collection, which had a then-$2.5 million valuation. While showcasing it, Ohanian revealed the "whole plan" surrounding the collection.

"The whole plan for this is that like grandkids, great grandkids, they'll have this collection and probably hundred years from now, museums will want to put pieces of this up for the public display," Ohanian said via altxyzofficial on YouTube (1.47).

"But I don't want our grandkids to ever have to go to museums to see someone else's possession. They should be the ones renting it out. So that's why we got the greatest collection of all time for you [Serena Williams]," he added.

Williams and Ohanian met for the first time in 2015 and eventually started dating. Ohanian would occasionally attend Williams' matches, particularly at Grand Slams. The former World No. 1 gave birth to the couple's first child, daughter Olympia, two months before their marriage.

Williams would go on to return to the court following her maternity leave. She ultimately retired at the 2022 US Open after a shock, third-round loss to Ajla Tomljanovic, a match where Ohanian was present. In 2023, the couple welcomed their second child, daughter Adira River.
