Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, has opened up about the one key human trait he would like their daughters, Olympia and Adira River, to retain amid the advancements in AI and robotics.

Ohanian, who is a tech enthusiast and the co-founder of Reddit, has envisioned how the rise of AI could impact his daughters' future in the workforce. The 41-year-old has already introduced AI to their lives, using it to create interesting math problems for Olympia, which were tailored to interests like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and women's football.

During a recent appearance on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Alexis Ohanian pointed out that while AI may not entirely replace human jobs, it was poised to become an indispensable resource in the workforce.

"There's lots of different areas where AI may not necessarily replace human work, but is going to be an amazing superpower," Ohanian said.

The Reddit co-founder expressed his desire for his and Serena Williams' daughters to develop durable skills that would stand the test of time despite technological advancements.

Ohanian singled out "empathy" as the uniquely human trait AI couldn't replicate, explaining that the ability to connect on a personal level would remain crucial as AI and robotics evolved into their own species.

"And so what do I want for my kid, or for even for anyone's kid who's entering a workforce, is probably to most importantly build skills that I know are going to be durable, call it a decade or two from now. So empathy is a skill that I think will be the last bastion of AI," he said.
"Like you're seeing, you've probably seen the videos now, of robotics and the leaps and bounds that's starting to make. It's still early days but there are skills, there are professions, were empathy is so, so, so important. And the physicality of being present one human to another where, at least I personally believe if we ever get to that point with AI and robotics, we can pretty much call it as a species," he added.

"Serena Williams and I both; we try not to talk down to our kids" - Alexis Ohanian on 'tightly controlling' daughter Olympia's internet use

During the same podcast, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian opened up about how they kept a check on their daughter Olympia's online activities. Ohanian disclosed that he and Williams avoid talking down to their children and had introduced the concept of the internet to the seven-year-old in detail.

"I've already had these conversations with Olympia and she just turned 7 and I try generally, I think my wife (Serena Williams) and I both; we try not to talk down to our kids. Like I really will explain the concept in detail but not like I would to a 41-year-old," he said.

The Reddit co-founder also shared that he "tightly controlled" Olympia's time on the internet, limiting her online exposure to playing Roblox with her family or friends.

"But there have been little glimpses that I have given her into it but very very tightly controlled. Really the only time she is ever online right now at 7 is playing Roblox. She will do it with me or her mom or some friends from school. She knows the internet basically as this place for Roblox and a place where she has fun," he added.

Alexis Ohanian further clarified that while both their children had personal accounts on social media, he and Serena Williams managed them while allowing Olympia to choose which photos to post.
