Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian dropped a brief but resounding reaction after he was honored by the women's basketball team of the University of Virginia (UVA). Ohanian recently donated $1 million to the team, yet another noteworthy contribution of the Reddit co-founder to the growth of women's sports in the USA.

Ohanian, a UVA alumnus, was invited to attend the UVA women's basketball team's game against No. 14 Duke on Sunday, January 12. Here, he was honored with a framed jersey wearing his name and the number '1' under it. The official UVA women's basketball handle on X (formerly Twitter) shared two pictures showing the Reddit co-founder all smiles as he posed with the shirt. The post was captioned:

"Grateful @alexisohanian #GoHoos #GNSL"

Later, after taking notice of the post, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian reacted to it, writing:

"UVA forever."

Ohanian's $1 million donation to the UVA women's basketball cause became the most sizeable gift in the history of the program.

The 41-year-old's announcement of his $1 million dollar contribution came before the turn of the year. Through the announcement, Ohanian laid bare his ambition to make the UVA women's basketball team "a championship contender".

Towards the end of 2024, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian took to X and confirmed his million-dollar contribution to the UVA women's college basketball team, writing:

"I've talked about raising the volume on how excellent women's college basketball is for years now... But I've finally made an investment! Multiple years + seven figures — I'm thrilled to help in push forward women's basketball, starting with my stomping grounds: @UVAWomensHoops to make this team a championship contender in the next 4 years."

More recently, Ohanian delivered an enthusiastic reaction to the UVA women's basketball team kickstarting 2025 with a 69-46 win over Wake Forest in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

"Let's GO 💪," Ohanian reacted to an X post from the official handle of the team confirming the win.

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian's first major foray into women's sports in the USA dates back to 2020, when he co-founded Angel City Football Club alongside a whole host of iconic personalities spanning several spheres. Since then, he has proactively invested in and promoted women's sports.

In 2024, the Reddit co-founder oversaw the inaugural edition of Athlos. The Ohanian-backed women's only track and field competition offered the largest prize purse in the history of the sport.
