Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian ecstatic as Lewis Hamilton clinches the British Grand Prix for a record-breaking win at home

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian was delighted at Lewis Hamilton clinching the British Grand Prix, thus breaking his drought for a race win in front of his home crowd. The Brit secured his first Grand Prix win after 945 days in a record-breaking triumph.

Hamilton, who had been on the podium only one time this year, was in a desperate need of a win in his final British Grand Prix with Mercedes. His last win was at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The qualifiers saw an all-British top 3 as his teammate George Russell took Pole followed by seven-time World Champion and McLaren's Lando Norris. Championship leader and Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen took the fourth place with Norris' teammate Piastri taking the fifth.

Russell maintained his lead with a brilliant launch to kick off the race with Hamilton following him for an all-Mercedes top two. However, Russell was visibly struggling and was overtaken by his teammate on Lap 18 as Hamilton led the race for a short while before the McLaren took the lead after a few laps with Norris in front.

It was in the 40th Lap when a slow pit stop (change of tires) of 4.5 seconds hampered Norris' race and Lewis Hamilton took the lead to never give it back. As Verstappen chased the seven-time World champion right till the end, Hamilton held his nerves to win the British Grand Prix for a record-breaking ninth time.

Hamilton finished first followed by Verstappen and Norris to round off the podium.

The 39-year-old's ninth win became the most number of wins at a single circuit.

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian shared his excitement about Lewis Hamilton's announcement to Ferrari.

Hamilton, who won six out of his seven World Championships with Mercedes announced in February this year that he will be leaving them to join Ferrari in 2025. This will see him replace Carlos Sainz Jr and make Charles Leclerc his new partner next season.

"LFG Lewis Hamilton, I just grabbed some Ferrari merch," Ohanian wrote.

Serena Williams has been married to Alexis Ohanian since 2017, and the couple have two daughters, Olympia and Adira River, who was born less than a year after her mother retired from tennis.
