Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, gave a one-word reaction explaining why he co-founded Reddit, sparked by an internet-breaking post about the NBA. Reddit, founded in 2005 by Ohanian and Steve Huffman, along with Aaron Swartz, has since become a hub for viral discussions and online communities.

A funny and heartfelt post recently went viral on Reddit, where a thoughtful girlfriend asked for help figuring out her boyfriend's favorite NBA player so she could surprise him with a jersey. She admitted she couldn’t remember the player’s name, even though he mentioned it. To help, she shared some quirky and specific clues, hoping someone could piece it together.

The post was later shared on X and reached 3.5 million views. Another X user reshared and claimed they were certain this was why Ohanian created the platform. The 41-year-old entrepreneur responded:

"Yes"

In another one-word response, Ohanian had commented on the post:

"Basically"

In an Instagram post in October, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian shared a screenshot of an email he sent to his co-founder Steve Huffman back in the early days of Reddit.

The email, which marked the beginning of Reddit’s journey, was a pitch Ohanian made to Mark White while attending a 'technopreneurial' seminar in Singapore.

Ohanian detailed how the conversation unfolded, explaining that after pitching the idea, White—who was known for receiving countless student pitches—considered it one of the best he had heard.

In the email, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian wrote, "I'm in Singapore at this technopreneurial seminar, and am basically spending a week learning how to create a tech start-up. I spoke to Mark White over some drinks last nite, and pitched him on our idea...from his feedback—and let me remind you that he gets pitches every couple of months from students, and was very candid and honest with his thoughts, but basically said it was one of the best he's heard, period."
"Not only that, but he wants to be on the board of directors, and already knows some people to hit up for starting capital..." Ohanian continued in the email.

Ohanian accompanied the screenshot with the caption:

"Bro."

This early validation was a pivotal moment in Reddit's history, and the platform has since grown into a massive enterprise valued at over $27 billion, according to Stock Analysis.
