Serena Williams' husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian recently expressed his enthusiasm for a pristine Tiger Woods trading card. Ohanian, known for his passion for collecting memorabilia, encouraged a fellow collector to have their immaculate 2001 SP Authentic Sign Of The Times Tiger Woods Rookie Card graded.
Alexis Ohanian's dedication to collecting trading cards spans various sports, including basketball, boxing, and racing, as well as his growing interest in superhero-themed cards. Most notably, the entrepreneur has amassed an extraordinary collection of Serena Williams trading cards, boasting over 4,500 pieces worth approximately $2.5 million.
On January 4, 2025, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared an image of a 2001 SP Authentic Sign Of The Times Tiger Woods Rookie card in mint condition, contemplating whether to send it for grading. Grading, a process that assesses a card's condition and authenticity, can significantly enhance its market value.
"Such a clean, crisp auto! 🐅 Might have to send it off to @PSAcard!" the user wrote.
Recognizing the card's pristine condition, Ohanian responded enthusiastically, encouraging the user to proceed with grading, writing:
"You should! Beauty."
If professionally graded at a level of PSA 9 or 10, this card could command a value ranging from $2,000 to over $6,000 (as per psacard.com).
According to Forbes, Tiger Woods' net worth is estimated at $1.3 billion as of January 4, 2025, making him one of the wealthiest athletes in the world.
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian showcased his "most prized collectibles’ earlier this year
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian partnered with the collector community page On Mantel to feature highlights from his cherished collectible collection in an Instagram video in February 2024.
In the video, Ohanian unveiled a rare Serena Williams rookie card, a life-size Iron Man statue, and an NES Play Action Football game.
"I have been collecting things since I was a kid. This is a soccer ball from the inaugural season of my team, Angel City FC. This is one of the best Serena Williams rookie cards ever. In fact, I think it is legitimately the best one. There's a grated copy of NES Play Action Football, which was the first video game I ever got. I played the hell out of it; I didn't even have an NFL license. But didn't matter.
And I was gifted this magic card, it's not real, but it was a really nice token of appreciation from one of our founders. And then finally, this is the best thing in my office, which is the Iron Man Mark 85. It's a life-size sculpture of the one and only Tony Stark."
Alexis Ohanian partnered with Brent Montgomery and Evan Parker to launch On Mantel, a social network for collectors to share sports cards, trading games, comic books, and beyond.
