Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently lavished praise on Giannis Antetokounmpo, his brother Thanasis, and their family as the duo honored their late father Charles Antetokounmpo's legacy. Giannis' father passed away on September 29, 2017, after suffering a heart attack.
To honor Charles' legacy, the Antetokounmpo brothers started a foundation named Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation (CAFF) in 2017. On his seventh death anniversary, the foundation hosted a golf game, attended by Ohanian. Giannis took to X to give an emotional tribute to his father.
"Thank you for coming out and supporting my family! 7 years ago today our dad went to heaven and we started CAFF to honor his legacy, I know he’s looking down and he’s proud 🙏🏽," Antetokounmpo wrote.
Williams' husband Ohanian replied to this tribute and heaped praise on the Antetokounmpo family and their inspiring journey.
"Getting to know Giannis, Thanasis, and their family over the years has been a joy (and inspiring as hell) — he's the real deal and I'm so happy to be a Day Zero supporter of his foundation, honoring his dad's great legacy," Ohanian wrote.
CAFF focuses on refugees & immigration, providing opportunities to youth, helping sportspersons expand possibilities, providing high-quality education to children, and giving emotional and financial support to widows.
"Sport unlocks potential like no other force on earth. The Antetokounmpo Family is proof that where opportunity and determination meet—on the court or in the community—all things are possible. CAFF was created to mobilize that impact on a global scale," reads the CAFF website.
