Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian jokes about entrusting daughter Olympia with coming up with story about surgery scar

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian stated that he underwent thyroid surgery after finding some nodules over the past four years. He also joked about trusting his daughter to come up with a story about the scar he received from it.

Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit, claimed that he had half of some "suspicious nodules" on his thyroid via surgery after a biopsy showed that they could turn cancerous.

"After tracking some suspicious nodules on my thyroid for the last 4 years, I recently got half of it surgically removed. The nodules were getting bigger & the latest biopsy revealed they'd very likely turn cancerous. My mom had breast cancer around this age (41) and then ultimately died from brain cancer a decade or so later. I hate cancer," Alexis Ohanian wrote.

The 41-year-old also wrote that his surgery was successful, adding that the nodules removed could have become malignant.

"I wasn't gonna take any chances; the surgery was smooth and I'm extra grateful this Thanksgiving because I got the call this morning that my now-removed-half-of-thyroid was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous," Serena Williams' husband said.

One individual told Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian that he would have to think of a good story for the scar from his surgery.

"You’ll have to think of a good story for the badass scar," the individual said.

Ohanian replied by joking that he was open to suggestions before asking Olympia for any ideas.

"I can't wait. Open to suggestions before I ask my 7 year old to come up with something," the 41-year-old said.

Rapper Flavor Flav was among the people who sent their best wishes to Alexis Ohanian.

"Sending you well wishes my guy and praying for your recovery,,, Blessings to you and your family on ThanksgivingGee," the 65-year-old said.

Ohanian responded to the rapper's wish by stating:

"Thank you, Flavor Flav! Gonna take more than that to stop meeeee."

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian married in 2017 two years after they started dating. The couple's older daughter Olympia was born a couple of months before their wedding. Williams gave birth to their second daughter Adira River in August 2023.

Serena Williams has retired from tennis, with the 2022 US Open, where she reached the third round, being her last tournament. However, her sister Venus Williams is still yet to call it quits on her playing career.
