Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian watched the New York Liberty's 2024 WNBA title win against the Minnesota Lynx with daughter Olympia on Sunday, October 20. Ohanian let their 7-year-old "stay up late" for the nail-biting encounter that stretched to overtime.
The Minnesota Lynx took an early lead before New York overtook it in the second and third quarters. Minnesota came from behind in the fourth quarter, tying the game 60-60 and taking it to overtime. New York eventually won the game 67-62 to clinch its maiden WNBA title.
Ohanian took to X to share a picture of the screen on which he watched the game with Olympia and captioned it:
"I let Olympia stay up a bit late for this one."
Given the Reddit co-founder's interest in women's sports, a surprised fan asked Ohanian why he was not watching the game courtside. Having prioritized staying with his daughter at their Palm Beach residence in Florida over watching the game in New York, Ohanian replied:
"Would've but on dad duty in Florida tonight."
After Serena Williams hung up her racket at the 2022 US Open, the couple successfully juggled their family life and respective businesses. They often share glimpses of their daughters Olympia and 1-year-old Adira Ohanian through social media.
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian reacts to daughter Olympia racing at Athlos NYC; 'thankful' that 7-year-old has 'athletic physique' of her mother
Alexis Ohanian was grateful about his daughter Olympia Ohanian sharing her mother Serena Williams' athletic physique when a fan pointed it out in an Instagram comment last month.
Olympia Ohanian ran the track at Athlos, an event organized through Ohanian's venture capital firm Seven Six Six. The event took place on September 26 in New York to promote women athletes in track-and-field events. It was headlined by the Olympic Gold medalist Faith Kipyegon and Gabby Thomas.
A picture of an excited Olympia running on the track was posted through the 7-year-old's account on Instagram. A fan commented that Olympia Ohanian had an athletic physique similar to the 23-time Grand Slam champion, to which Ohanian replied:
"Thankfully."
In another picture shared by Ohanian on X, Olympia can be seen cheering athletes enthusiastically from the stands. Presumably reflecting on taking baby Olympia with him to cheer for mother Serena Williams, Ohanian wrote that it appeared to be the young one's "core memory".
"Amazing shot at the @ATHLOS finish-line by @jeffcohenphoto! See if you can spot @olympiaohanian Looks like a Core Memory"
Ohanian and Olympia were frequently spotted at the former World No. 1's players' box including at the 2022 US Open where the tennis great bid goodbye to fans after an illustrious career spanning two decades.
