Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has promised a handsome reward for kids, encouraging them to dress up as their favorite female athletes. Ohanian has long been an advocate for the growth and promotion of women's sports, particularly in the US. The Reddit co-founder has also made sizeable investments in women's sports over the years.

Ohanian married the legendary Serena Williams in November 2017, just over a couple of months after the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Olympia, to the world. Last year, the former World No. 1 and 23-time singles Major winner gave birth to the couple's second child, daughter Adira River.

Recently, the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of The Sports Bra, a Portland, Oregon-based bar and restaurant dedicated to women's sports, posted:

"This Halloween we just wanna repost kiddos dressing like their favorite athletes!!"

The post featured an image of a young girl dressed up as track and field athlete Gabby Thomas.

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian reshared The Sports Bra's post and wrote:

"Let's do a contest.. tag @TheSportsBraPDX with your kids dressing as their favorite female athletes this Halloween and Jenny (CEO) will pick her favorite costume and I'll gift $1,000 to the winner."

Later, Ohanian shared his X post via his Instagram Stories (now-disappeared) and once again announced the contest:

"@thesportsbrapdx gonna pick a winner!!! Some kid gonna win $1000 from me for their Halloween costume"

Earlier this month, Ohanian expressed his delight over the popularity of 'The Offseason', a show revolving around women's sports co-created by him.

'The Offseason' is a show about 11 women's soccer players currently plying their trade in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). In the show, the players reside together for two weeks in a Miami property, and engage in candid conversations with each other. Its first episode premiered on Friday, October 18, and quickly amassed over 10 million views.

Upon taking notice at the numbers, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian, one of the show's co-producers took to his Instagram Stories and wrote:

"10,000,000 are you serious?"

Ohanian was particularly moved by Mexico's Maria Sanchez's recollection of her childhood on the show. Sanchez, who plays as a forward for San Diego Wave in the NWSL, stated that her parents, who were traditional Mexicans, did not want her to play soccer with boys when she was a child.
