Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian shared details about a conversation he had with golf legend Tiger Woods. Woods, who boasts an impressive net worth of $1.3 billion (according to Forbes), has collaborated with two partners to create a groundbreaking golf league called TGL.

TGL, or TMRW Golf League, is a unique golf league founded by sports executive Mike McCarley and professional golfers Woods and Rory McIlroy, in collaboration with the PGA Tour. This league aims to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to the sport by blending traditional golf with advanced technology, featuring a mix of live-action and virtual elements.

The league officially debuted on January 7, 2025, following a delay from its originally planned 2024 launch. Hosted at an indoor venue in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the opening day saw the New York Gold Club suffer a 2-9 defeat against the Bay Golf Club.

On Wednesday, January 8, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian shared on X (formerly Twitter) about his first conversation with Tiger Woods regarding investing in the TGL. He wrote:

“When @TigerWoods first called me about investing in this innovative league—just an idea back then—I needed to know he'd feel it as intensely as his favorite tournament. My North Star in sports: make it GREAT for athletes. Everything else falls into place.”

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian shared the inspiration behind his decision to own the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC). He revealed that his seven-year-old daughter, Olympia, and her growing interest in golf played a key role in motivating him to acquire the club.

In an interview with TGL Golf last year, Alexis Ohanian shared his vision of making the club a lasting legacy for his family.

“To wit, my wife Serena [Williams] and I have enjoyed as Olympia’s taken a liking to golf. This is another piece of the legacy I’m building for my family and I hope this team can become a part of many families’ lives, too,” Ohanian said.

The American entrepreneur shared why he chose Los Angeles as the base for the club, highlighting the city’s unique blend of sports, technology, and entertainment—key elements for the futuristic environment they envision for the TGL.

“Los Angeles is the perfect home for our TGL team. This city embodies the intersection of sports, technology, and entertainment, making it an ideal backdrop for the innovation and excitement we aim to bring to the world of golf and its fans,” he said.

Ohanian’s Los Angeles Golf Club, co-owned by Serena Williams, their daughters Olympia and Adira River, and Venus Williams, is set to play its first match on January 14. They’ll be facing off against Jupiter Links Golf Club, led by Tiger Woods.
