On June 18, 2023, OceanGate's Titan Submersible unfortunately imploded during its descent, causing the tragic loss of five lives, who were on a tourist expedition to view the ruins of Titanic, in the Atlantic Ocean.

A few days after the tragic incident occurred, MrBeast shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he had declined an invitation to be one of the passengers on the submersible.

"I was invited earlier this month to ride the titanic submarine, I said no. Kind of scary that I could have been on it," James Donaldson wrote.

Responding to his tweet, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian expressed that he was relieved to know that the YouTuber had escaped the tragic incident.

"We're all very happy you declined dude," Ohanian tweeted."

Earlier in the year, Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian had congratulated MrBeast for featuring in Time Magazine's TIME100 Leadership Series.
