Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian showed off original sports card belonging to Alexis Arguello, a three-time World Champion boxer he was named after.
Arguello was a former boxer from Nicaragua who competed over two decades at professional level. He is considered as one of the finest boxers of his era. He was crowned champion in three different weight categories.
Ohanian, who has been consistently building his sports card collection over the years, excitedly showcased Arguello's card on social media. The American entrepreneur emphasized that he "had to get" the card as it was rated a "perfect 10" and licensed by the Boxing Hall of Fame.
"Okay, I *had* to get this one. This is an original 1991 AW sports boxing card, licensed by the Boxing Hall of Fame, rated a perfect 10, depicting none other than my namesake, Nicaraguan boxer Alexis Arguello," Ohanian wrote on X.
Williams' husband recalled Arguello's greatest achievements in the sport, explaining why he loved the card.
"Alexis Arguello is widely recognized as one of the best boxers of all time. He was a 3x world champion, holding titles in featherweight, super featherweight, and lightweight divisions," Serena Williams' husband added.
The Reddit co-founder also highlighted Arguello's heroics outside the boxing ring. He maintained that the Nicaraguan was a "nice guy" who was acknowledged for his commitment to sportsmanship.
"He was also considered one of the greatest punchers ever. @ringmagazine ranks him 20th of their 100 greatest punchers of all-time. But even if he had a mean left hook, he sure was known as a nice guy. Outside the ring, he was praised for his total commitment to sportsmanship," he wrote.
Alexis Ohanian saved arguably the most significant reason for last, as he mentioned that his parents named him after the boxer.
"Last, but not least, Alexis Arguello is my namesake. Yes, my parents named me for El Flaco Explosivo ("The Explosive Thin Man") and greatest puncher in the world. I like to think I live up to his legacy," Ohanian's post read.
Alexis Ohanian owns a sizeable card collection that includes boxing, tennis, basketball, racing, and golf. Apart from sports, he also has a collection of Marvel and DC superhero cards.
