Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently teased his "next big thing" as he promoted a brand new platform, created purely for collectors. The Reddit co-founder himself is an avid collector of memorabilia and continues to occasionally share snippets from his ever-growing collection.
Williams and Ohanian met in 2015 and began dating soon afterward. The couple had their first daughter Olympia in 2017. Two months after Olympia's birth, the tennis legend married the entrepreneur. The happily-married couple became parents again last year after they welcomed daughter Adira River to the world.
Recently, Serena Williams' husband took to his Instagram to share a promotional reel produced by Mantel, a social media platform for collectors co-created by Ohanian and film producer Brent Montgomery. Ohanian himself featured in the reel and could be heard saying:
"This is a platform where collectors can come on and find anything."
The Reddit co-founder captioned the Instagram Story:
"Y'all ready for my next big thing?"
Earlier this year, Ohanian had laid bare his excitement at what Mantel can offer to collectors.
"There's nothing out there like it" - Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian on Mantel
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February this year, Alexis Ohanian spoke up about how Mantel would potentially impact collectors. The Reddit co-founder praised the uniqueness of the platform. Mantel's launch date is Wednesday, December 11.
"Mantel combines two of my greatest passions in business and in life: community and collecting. The fulfillment and joy people can experience through social engagement, especially around heartfelt hobbies, can’t be overstated; and with our current and planned features, Mantel goes even further than that, helping collectors broaden their world as much as they want. There’s nothing out there like it," Ohanian told The Hollywood Reporter.
The platform marks Ohanian's latest business venture, the foundations of which lie in the entrepreneur's passion for collectibles. In the past, he has shared Serena Williams memorabilia he has collected, including her rookie card, which he showed in an On Mantel video back in February.
Ohanian is also a fervent supporter of women's sports and is a co-owner of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team Angel City FC. He is also the brains behind Athlos, a track and field competition only for women. Athlos' inaugural edition, dubbed Athlos NYC, took place earlier this year and featured some of the top names in women's track and field, including Gabby Thomas.
