Serena Williams took time out to lend her voice to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's fledgling new golf project, the TGL. She appeared on ESPN's broadcast to support the Los Angeles Golf Club team she co-owns along with her husband Alexis Ohanian and sister Venus, one of the six teams competing in TGL.

On the broadcast, Serena revealed that while she hasn't taken up golf herself, she has used her new golf venture to swing a club and introduce her two daughters, seven-year-old Olympia, and one-year-old Adira to the sport.

When asked if she's a golfer, Serena replied:

"No, but I did hit last Sunday. and that counts. My daughter plays golf. Well, one was playing and one was rolling around on her back. I'm not kidding."

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is just one investor in several star-studded names who have been drawn to the new golf venture, having been persuaded by fellow legend Tiger Woods. Woods was playing for the opposing Jupiter Links team.

The 43-year-old Williams joined ESPN's Matt Barrie to cast her eye over proceedings, and to cheer on her team, which included Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, and Justin Rose, in the second round of the simulator league's inaugural season.

Played inside Los Angeles' VIP Suite at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, the new venture has attracted huge names as backers, including NBA star Steph Curry and sports team owners the Fenway Sports Group, all seeking to be an integral part of Woods and McIlroy's vision to revolutionize the game of golf.

Serena Williams was in the house to watch her team take on Tiger Woods and his Jupiter Links teammates in the second match of the golf simulator league's inaugural season. Other notable owners of the Los Angeles Golf Club are Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Alex Morgan, Servando Carrasco, and Michelle Wie West.

Williams spoke highly of the venture's start, believing that the unique format will only bolster golf's public face, even if her two daughters may not yet be caught up in the hype.

She said:

"It's so wild...you see it a little bit in tennis and in basketball...but we don't see it so much in golf. It's so good to get to see their personalities, and see them shine as golfers, because they're usually so focussed and serious. It's so cool to see this new aspect."
