After retiring from tennis in 2022, Williams focused on spending more time with her family. In 2023, she welcomed her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian. Currently, she is more engaged in her business ventures, which include jewelry and exclusive clothing lines. She’s also a prominent voice in many social media campaigns, including “Black Lives Matter.”

On Saturday, December 8, Biles shared an Instagram post featuring her and Williams catching up during an interview with Vanity Fair. Biles captioned her post:

In The 100 Most Influential People of 2021 published by Time, Williams wrote about Biles, praising her unique blend of humility and confidence. According to the 23-time Grand Slam champion, this remarkable combination is what helped Biles secure a total of 32 medals.

“Simone strikes the powerful balance between humility and confidence—she’s enthusiastic yet stoic, believing in her strength, trusting her body and embracing her greatness,” Williams wrote.

She added:

“With a total of 32 Olympic and world championship medals, Simone’s athletic achievements are seen once in a lifetime.”

Serena Williams recognized that a strong figure such as Simone Biles inspires Black women, encouraging them to strive for greater achievements and unlock their full potential.

“What she embodies truly reflects the endless potential of Black women. I wish I had her to look up to when I was younger and trying to realize my dreams,” the tennis legend wrote.
“By living her truth so loudly and by championing mental health, she is setting new standards of beauty, strength and resilience, breaking down today’s image-obsessed stereotypes and encouraging others to do the same,” she added.
