Serena Williams' special tribute to daughters Olympia and Adira: What you might have missed

Serena Williams’ love for jewelry is no secret. Of late, the American legend has been sporting a special piece dedicated to her two daughters, Olympia and Adira.

Williams, who married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in November 2017, gave birth to their daughter Olympia in September that year. The couple welcomed their second child, daughter Adira, in 2023, just months after her retirement from tennis at the 2022 US Open.

Serena Williams and Ohanian have been a nurturing presence in their daughters’ lives despite their busy work lives. While the 23-time Grand Slam champion has taken up the responsibility to teach her daughters tennis and French, the latter is known to bond with Olympia and Adira by creating artistic breakfast pancakes for them. The two also take pride in volunteering at Olympia’s school and ballet activities.

To further show her affection for her two daughters, Williams recently added a dazzling customized gold chain necklace to her collection. The American was captured wearing the special piece with Olympia and Adira’s names in her latest post on Instagram. She also previously flaunted the jewelry in a few of her videos on the app.

This is not the first time that Serena Williams has shown her love for her children through a meaningful accessory. In 2022, Williams, who founded Serena Williams Jewelry, revealed that she shares a few pieces with Olympia.

"I have some pieces that I share with my little girl, Olympia. We say 'same, same,' wear the same heart necklace, and it's just really cute," she said during the S by Serena presentation at New York Fashion Week.

The duo also charmed the fans by dressing up identically.

Earlier this year, Serena Williams, who was awarded 2024 ‘Woman of the Year’ by Glamour Magazine, spoke about how she had to choose between continuing her tennis journey and prioritizing family.

The American legend, who evolved away from the sport after a staggering 27-year-long career, said:

"I think at some point you do have to choose if you want to have kids, but for me, I decided to choose being a mom," she said in a video for Glamour.

Despite hanging up her racket, Williams has kept herself busy with her venture capital fund, new beauty brand Wyn Beauty, and multimedia company Nine Two Six Productions, among others. She thus highlighted the importance of making time for daughters, Olympia and Adira.

"I never thought I would say that. But just hanging out with my girls and spending time with them and just showing up every day is an achievement, and it's not easy. I can't think of anything else that I achieved that's better or greater than that," Williams said.
