Novak Djokovic recently faced flak from tennis fans over 'following' controversial figure Andrew Tate online. The revelation came after he thrashed Rafael Nadal in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Djokovic defeated Nadal 6-1, 6-4 to hand him only his fifth loss at Roland Garros. The Serb unsettled the Spaniard by breaking his first two serves of the match and took the opening set.

The second set began on a similar note, with the winner breaking Nadal's first two serves before the Spaniard fought back briefly by breaking back twice. But the Serb proved too good as he secured the second set and consequently the match to take a 31-29 lead in the head-to-head.

However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion's win has been overshadowed by his social media activity as tennis fans found out he followed Andrew Tate on X (formerly Twitter).

Tate has earned a bad name for himself courtesy of his commentary on women, religion, Covid-19 vaccines, and politics. Also, he has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking, the charges he has explicitly denied. Therefore, Djokovic's act of following Tate shocked the fans.

"Didn't expect that he gets his elite-level mentality from Andrew Tate," an aghast fan wrote.

"When I thought I couldn't dislike the guy more than I already do," a fan commented.
"Disappointed and expected from him," a fan wrote.
"I was starting to like Nole… well, that’s over for good," a fan remarked.
"Not even surprised at this point," a fan wrote.
