Taylor Townsend recently gave her fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her daily struggles as a professional athlete and a single mom. The American tennis star, currently enjoying her off-season, shared a look into her “exhausting” day spent juggling mom duties and spending quality time with her three-year-old son, Adyn.
Townsend welcomed her son, Adyn Aubrey Johnson, on March 14, 2021, and has since embraced the challenges of single parenthood. While the details about Adyn's father remain private, Townsend appears to be single and entirely focused on her career and raising her son.
The 2024 tennis season concluded on a bittersweet note for Townsend after early exits in both singles and doubles events at the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga, Spain. Now, in her off-season, she is using the time to recharge, train, and devote herself to motherhood.
On December 16, 2024, Townsend took to Instagram to share snippets of her day with Adyn. The stories began with a trip to her tennis practice session, where Adyn accompanied her, sitting in the backseat munching on strawberries. In one adorable clip, he was hilariously spotted perched inside a ball cart, cheerfully helping collect tennis balls with a basket.

Townsend then shifted gears to tidying up the living area, instructing Adyn to organize his toys. Sharing a video of this moment, she humorously captioned it:
"Yo… this single mom sh*t is no joke. I’m exhausted, bro."
The day wasn’t over yet. Townsend shared a clip of a playful pillow fight with Adyn, who gleefully swung at her with a pillow as she ducked for cover. The stories concluded with Townsend and Adyn heading to bed, with the athlete joking about missing her planned bedtime by one and a half hour.
"Bruh be turnt"; "We an hour and a half behind but hey.. we made it to bed time," Townsend captioned her Instagram stories.
Taylor Townsend opens up about gaining new outlook through motherhood
During a press conference at the 2023 US Open, Taylor Townsend shared how motherhood has changed her perspective on life. Townsend humorously remarked that being a mom often leaves you feeling like you want to pull your hair out.
The American tennis star admitted that, while she initially wanted to have control over everything, she has learned to embrace the reality that she isn’t always in charge.
"I think like being a parent makes you want to pull your hair out (laughter). I think it's more so, like, learning and understanding when to push. Basically to understand that most of the time, like, you want to be in control but you're not in control, so you can control what you can, and what you can't you got to let go," Townsend said.
Townsend further explained that motherhood has offered her a fresh outlook, reigniting her passion for tennis and strengthening her confidence in her abilities on the court.
